Grades 5-8 Information

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS
GRADES 5-8
2009-2010

1.    Please be prompt – class begins at 7:00 and ends at 8:30.

2.    Parents, join us in church for prayer service at 8:10.  If you join us in church you can pick up child in church at the 8:30 dismissal.  Outside doors of church will be locked at 8:15 promptly.

3.    If not with us in church then you need to pick up your child within the school building at the designated locations.  You must leave your car and come to where I am in order to retrieve your child.  This is for the safety of the children.  So we know they are leaving with a parent.  So every child is accounted for.

4.    If you are carpooling, fill out the pick-up permission form. Forms are available on the website or from your child's teacher.  Again, this is for the safety of your child.

5.    If your child occasionally needs to leave early, a note must be sent with the child.  You should pick up the child in the office.  Not the classroom or the church.

6.    Please have your child prepared for each class.  They need a pencil or pen. The students will be receiving textbooks on the firdt night of class.  The textbooks are to remain in the classroom and will not be written in. Each textbook will have the child’s name in it, the date and the condition of the book. Any textbook that is lost will need to be replaced and the family will be responsible for the replacement value. (approximately $30)  If the book is damaged there will be an assessment of the book.

7.    Please call or email the Religious Education office if your child will be absent.  You can expect a phone call from your child's teacher or the Religious Education office when your child is absent.  They will need to make up any work they miss.  The next time your child attends class, they will be given their textbook to take home and to complete the missed chapter(s) and complete the assessment at the end of the chapter.  The answers to the assessment(s) are to be written on a piece of paper.  They must return the textbook and make up assignment the next time they attend class.

8.    We look forward to sharing this faith journey with your child.  Thank you for that opportunity.  If you have any problems or concerns, please feel free to speak to your child's teacher of an office helper after any of the classes.

9.    You can always contact Sharon Crenshaw and Mary Ramsden at the Rel. Ed. Office or by email.
